Abstract. At any stage of societal life a certain occurrence exerts a significant, in some cases essential, existential influence on the development of a society and determines the correction of humans’ behavior. After the World Health Organization recognized a new epidemic of coronavirus (COVID-19) as a pandemic on March 11th, 2020, the world population once again faced the necessity of fighting against the pandemic. Its global character reduced the pace of societal progress and brought about regress. Consequently, it became a crucial part of the agenda to study at length societal losses caused by the pandemic and formulate preventive measures. It is necessary not only to study the nature of the previous and current pandemics but also to analyze possible scenarios and trends of the post-pandemic world. This calls forth the inevitability of creating an interdisciplinary field of science called pandemology. In this regard, we present the results of the sociological and economic researches in the direction of the fields of pandemology, namely, sociology and economy of the pandemic in Georgia according to the initial stage of the coronavirus. The worker views the level of self-preservative behavior or preventive behavior against the background of the populations’ knowledge and perception of risks concerning the threat of the pandemic. In addition, we analyze the consequences of self-preservative and economic behavior of the population under the socio-economic conditions caused by the pandemic.
